    Common Questions

I am so honoured that you would allow me to come on this journey with you! Unfortunately, we do have ethical guidelines that we follow set by the Australian Psychological Society which prevent us from seeing family members as this would be considered a conflict of interest.

We are not an emergency or crisis service. In the case of an emergency, always call triple zero (000). Otherwise, some helpful services include the Mental Health Access Line (1800 011 511), Lifeline (13 11 14), Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636), and Suicide Callback Service (1300 659 467).

Our sessions go for about 45-50 mins. Our initial session is nothing to be anxious about. Some people come in and have a lot to say, and that’s okay. Other people come in and freeze or find it difficult to know what they ‘should’ share. We have a list of questions and information we are wanting to know that will help us understand you and how we can help. At the end of the first session we will talk about our suitability for one another, your treatment goals, and frequency of sessions.

Psychologists provide therapy and counselling and psychiatrists are medical doctors specialising in mental health that can prescribe medication.

Psychological interventions can be effective in addressing various mental health concerns and improving overall well-being. There are broader benefits of therapy for personal growth, self-awareness, coping skills, and enhancing overall life satisfaction.
